LHC news

For those of you who follow my blogs about the Large Hadron Collider-there is some new news!! The LHC was shut down because of a magnet malfunction last year & with 'winter shutdown' hours in effect, it will not be able to be fixed until this coming March.

With the final repairs to be finished in March, hopefully tests will begin to resume in June. In addition to looking for the elusive Higgs boson particle, the LHC will answer other interesting questions. Detecting the Higgs boson particle would help to explain how massless elementary particles can cause MATTER to have MASS.

Our telescopes can only see ~ 4% of the universe-the rest is 'unseeable' dark matter & dark energy. Science doesn't know what dark matter/energy is or the purpose of it. It is somewhat detectible with infrared technologies but seeing & analyzing it is imposible.

Anyways, I think it will be an exciting year with several different scientific discoveries & advances. Can't wait to see what all they uncover!!!
